Abstract: In this talk I’ll focus on the dynamics of cavitation bubbles in liquids and elastic solids mostly from experiments. In rigid gaps filled with liquids the bubble dynamics is surprisingly complex and rich. For very thin liquid gaps the elasticity of the boundaries comes into play. Then secondary cavitation can be generated from Lamb-type waves of the liquid. Recently we studied the interaction of shock waves interacting with gas bodies in a sample of gelatine. Bubble-bubble interaction and a considerable slow down of the shock front is observed.
